About

Hello,

I am Patrick Oliveros, a web developer by profession. This is my blog, a place where I usually put whatever is running on my head whenever I feel like writing. I graduated from the University of the Philippines with a degree in Computer Science.

My first shot of work was as an intern in Microsoft Philippines with a role in academic evangelism.  I spearheaded launches of Visual Studio 2005 in the academe focusing on web development technologies. After my stint in Microsoft Philippines, I transferred to GMA New Media, Inc. where I went on full-time web developer using PHP. My biggest project so far is the Philippine Entertainment Portal (which is as of the last editing of this “About” page, my name still appears on the “Web Programmers” section of the “About” page of the site). Right now, I am working with Emerson Network Power as a Web Developer.

My interests include photography, gadgets, web development issues, rich internet applications, and fitness. As a photographer, my main subjects are portraits and weddings. I use a Canon EOS 400D camera which I recently bought as a gift for myself. Some of the shots that I have taken are uploaded in my Multiply account.

I love talking about anything under the sun. Sometimes, people mistook me as a “Mr. Know-it-all” since I always have a say on something even if its irrelevant or not. At any rate, I hope you do find my blog in a way or another informative or worthy visiting.

Adios!

dude, im sure you’re a really good web programmer or something of that sort, but having a blog like this carries with it a ton of responsibilities. foremost of which is the grammar you put out every time you post an entry. im assuming you’re much older than i am (i’m 20) and for a guy your age, your choice of words doesn’t seem mature enough. not that it matters, or if it’s any importance to you, im just concerned. you might want to check on it the next time you update your blog. cool interest on photography though. though, i can’t say the same about your poetry.

Hello,

I do appreciate your concerns and as much as possible, I try to be grammatically correct in my posts. However, our levels of understanding the English language isn’t the same that sometimes what we think is right can be wrong or something we think can be right.

Perhaps, it all boils down to the author’s prerogative as to what type of words he/she choses to place in his blog. I am not particularly sure but can you qualify what words should one mention to say that the author is “mature”. While the choice of words could be one indication, what particular word are you talking about?

I am not angry, I just want to have some clarifications. Anyway, It’s a free world and we can’t please everyone.

dare i say what is and isn’t mature? i don’t think you want me to go there. anyway, it’s just an observation. it doesn’t really ask for your two cents’ worth, so. just do what you do.

That’s it. Do what you do. I think this is what blogs are for. To do what you want to do and be what you want to be. This is where you have every utter right to be wrong. Grammar errors are just what they are. Superficial. Technical. And I really can’t believe that someone is making such a fuss about it.

Anyhow, I really don’t believe that maturity comes with age.

Godspeed, Patrick!.. 😉

Hi Patrick!

I am very delighted to have someone like you to have this bulong concept available online. With this we can spread the word to help our fellow Filipinos and our own country.

Anyway, I am also very proud that there are new establishments sprouting out in Manila and would like to share to this “bulong” one store that I visited in Trinoma Landmark called “SPA SIAM” if Iam not mistaken that this is very new product in the Philippines where I am very happy using their Hair Mask. Price is affordable and the result is AMAZING.

I took a photo and want to share this to all. Please let me know on how to attached photos on your bulong.

Chao!
Ginger

Hi Ginger, “Bulong” doesn’t really serve any other purpose here except that I used it as a name of my blog. 🙂 😛

If you would notice, the letters of “BLOG” is capitalized and I can’t think well of a good name then and I have decided to use the name “bulong” since I am just a simple blogger that wants to tell what’s running on my head plus the fact that I am just a “someone” to others and my voice can’t really be that heard, and that’s why I finally adopted to use that name.

I am not sure if you can attach a picture here but you can have it posted on image sharing sites and have the link posted here.

Thanks for visiting my blog. 🙂

define blog: A BLOG is a publication of personal thoughts, experiences, and web links. It is updated frequently and is usually a mixture of what is happening in a person’s life and what is happening on the web or in the media.

wala namang sinabi kelangan mature… meron na bang “maturity-meter” ang blog? =)

Hi Patrick, I like what you write and how you deliver yourself. It think blogging isn’t the question of maturity :D, it’s about our sentiments, opinions, personal experiences and diverse thinking 😉 ! And especially, the things we would like to share to our dear readers whether may sense o wala 😉 ! Oh I think there’s is no perfect English (anyway it’s not our mother tongue) ako ng tanda ko na I still make grammatical errors 😦 what is important is how discover people even without knowing they exist….meaning this wonderful medium is a way to gain friends and not enemies right (but open to constructive criticism) ?!!! Have a nice day and hope to see more photos here!

Dude,

Who cares about grammar! What’s important is for you to be able to get your message across to your readers. And in your case, you did just that. Keep in mind that people are gifted with different skills. Writing may not be your strength but never let that be an obstacle from continuing to blog. Believe it or not but one of the top US bloggers who makes tons of money from blogging is nowhere close to having a perfect grammar.

Hi Ed,

Thanks for dropping by. The initial entry that I made here about myself is somewhat wacky and I made an intentional distortion of the english grammar and language (in the Philippines, we call it “conyo” Taglish – fusion of tagalog and english). However, certain people appear to be “offended” with my entry and so I changed it. Nonetheless, whatever transcribed before is okay for me as if nothing happened. I decided to stay it this way well, for personal reasons as well.

Live well!

Hey,

I’m Englishman with two degrees and PhD and still my grammar (and more so spelling) isn’t worth toffee. Perhaps it shows the current state of the English education system but more likely I think it is an expression and embracing of multicultural society which we Brits believe in and have taken forward allowing the grammatical and spoke English to evolve. Some traditionalists may not like this evolution but hey that’s life. If could put three words together in your local dialect I would be jumping up and down for joy!

The blog is fantastic, keep on writing an expressing yourself….most importantly be yourself!

(…and keep on cycling from a fellow Brit RPM addict!)

Thanks for visiting! Though it’s quite a long dead issue, we all have our own taste of wrong english grammar. Even though, it shouldn’t be an excuse for not expressing in a language understood by many. Thanks again and keep on pedalling!

Hi Patrick,

Happy New Year!

I was teary eyed reading your blog in “Sulat” it made me came to realize that in our age (I’m 24) we should not be only responsible towards ourselves but with our family especially our parents somehow we also have social responsibility. I am so glad that one way or another you have touched my heart. By the way we have the same thing in common I just bought also a Canon EOS 450D and graphic design laptop(HP) for my photography. I love to traveling as well discover new culture, meeting people, knowing traditional practices and all—this is one thing that is common with us.

Regards,
Bogz

Thanks! The post isn’t mine but shared to me by a friend. The thought alone is so touching and I guess the message that it brings do really make sense. Have a great day and thanks again for dropping by my blog.

I just have to say… your grammar is impeccable. Great stuff on your blog, Patrick. I came from your LinkedIn (looking for passionate coders to join our team) and was very happy to see you supporting our cause at Pinoy Web Startup.

Thanks for the visit. I do get faults once in a while (nobody’s perfect after all, he he he) but I do make it a point to always get it right. No problem with PWS, I think with proper preparations, I could go all the way but at this point, with a volatile world economy, I am still sticking with my day job and besides, I am still enjoying and learning and of course, earning. 🙂

Thanks again!

Bro,

I find your website/blog insightful and a
rare find.

I have a Globe Tattoo Stick and uses it all the time on my mobile phone and vice versa. Its just weird that you have to take turns in removing the sim card when you use the mobile phone or the usb stick.

Then I found your blog about unlocking the Globe Tattoo Stick and was super happy 🙂

I am planning to unlock it this week and hope it will be successful.

My question is, if the Globe Tattoo Stick is unlock, and I am going to use a Sun Cellular Sim Card with an unlimited mobile internet plan (with contract) p/649 per month, Will it work?

All i want is to save some cash as Globe is beginning to eat up my budget..

Thank you so much.

That, plus the added benefits and customization abilities that come
with your own wordpress blog for example, makes the paid option a no-brainer for anyone that can afford it.
re going to take a step-by-step look at how you
can find and automatically install plugins directly from within Word – Press.
My call to travel with Word Press and not with one among the other big blogging entities like Blogger, had the whole lot to try to
to with my possessing whole control over the web site.
