PHINUG is back online!

I am pleased to announce the availability of PHINUG.org again. The site was down for quite a while (if you think 4 months is) and has undergone a complete reconstruction from ground up.

Certain sections of the site is still unavailable however, if you want to be part of this organization, all you need to do is to sign-up for free! We will be upgrading the site to facilitate more features for the members. The site is actually back to its infancy stage but we’re sure there’s still more to come for the site.

If you are a .NET software developer, a developer who wishes to learn .NET, or students interested/keen on learning .NET technologies, you can register yourself now.

Tagged as “IT HERO3S Solutions Challenge“, the challenge teams up participants with Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) to solve real-world problems painfully faced by them with an IT solution using the upcoming technologies from Microsoft: Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2008, and Visual Studio 2008 which will be launched next year.

Prizes at stake are attendance to TechEd 2008 in Orlando, Florida in the Professional Division while the winning student entry will be the Philippine representative to Imagine Cup 2008 in Paris, France.

An Evening With Microsoft

Microsoft Philippines had another Technical Community Eyeball (EB) last night at Metro Phi Bar at Metro Walk. This event is the first time for this fiscal year following the old one last November 2005. The night was full of fun, food, and pleasantries as different members of various Microsoft users group met. As the VP of the Philippine .NET User’s group, I represented the group and made a short introduction of what we do as a group to promote .NET not only in the academe, but to the community at large as well.

Cameras shouldn’t be missed with events like this. Since I’m a bit “inspired” with the monochrome theme of this month’s issue of Digital Photographer Philippines, I took shots of the band using a cheapo 50mm lens. My shots are posted in the forums and the link is located in the picture below. 🙂
