Revisiting the Fever
Thalia is one of the few celebrities that captivated the hearts of the Filipinos. Not so long before, her name wasn’t that heard until RPN-9 (a local television channel) aired Marimar and the rest was history. As far as my memory is concerned, that triggered the big networks to follow suit by creating their own telenovelas/teleserye (novels/series on TV) and for ABS-CBN airing 2 more of Thalia’s soaps – Maria Mercedes and Rosalinda.
And coming from a house who can’t tolerate nor accept the bastardization of a local TV network on TV classics (such as Shaider and Marimar), I have decided to have the household a copy of two of the previous “Thalia fever” series: Mari Mar and Rosalinda.

Mari Mar

Rosalinda
Marimar has 3 DVDs, two of which are double sided (I am not sure if a side is single or double layered) and Rosalinda has 2 double sided DVDs. The Marimar copy that I have is the one that was recently launched last 12 February 2008 from Amazon and contains English subtitle. I am not quite sure if the initial release didn’t have English subtitles but as for the quality of the content, it isn’t as clear as expected from a traditional Region 1 DVD. Perhaps the series being cramped into fewer discs, that might have affected the quality of the show. Nonetheless, these DVDs are really a collector’s edition.
No que no?
